Ayurveda - pronounced (i-yer-VAY-duh), is a 5,000-year-old system of preventive medicine and healthcare that originated in ancient India. Ayurveda means “knowledge of life.”
The goal is to cleanse the body and restore balance to the body, mind, and spirit. Ayurveda uses diet, herbal medicines, exercise, meditation, breathing, physical therapy, and other methods.
Ayurvedic haircare - uses a holistic approach to help ensure hair and scalp health. Includes herbal mixtures and natural oils that are minimally processed or, in many cases, used whole.
 
 
Ingredients
 

Amla - also known as the Indian Gooseberry and Phyllanthus Emblica, is popularly known for its wonderful benefits on hair. Amla is an edible fruit of the Myrobalan tree, packed with antioxidants, flavonoids, and other minerals vital for hair growth. Amla contains a high concentration of nutrients like vitamins A, C, and E. Amla conditions your scalp promotes healthy hair growth, minimizes grays, reduces dandruff, and treats head lice. 

 

Bahrami - also known as Bacopa Monnieri, water hyssop, thyme-leaved Graciela, and herb of grace, is a staple plant in traditional Ayurvedic medicine. On your hair, Brahmi powder creates a natural protective layer, reduces the possibility of split ends, and makes the entire mane lustrous. Bahrami reduces dryness, itchiness, and dandruff. 

 

Bhringraj - commonly known as Eclipta prostrata, false daisy, yerba de tago, Gunta kalagaraku/Gunta galagaraku, and Karisalankanni, is a species of plant in the family Asteraceae. Bhringraj has antimicrobial and antifungal properties that can help reduce dandruff. The oil also has anti-inflammatory properties, which can help with psoriasis or other skin irritations on the scalp. It is also said to improve circulation to the scalp. 

  

Fenugreek - is a clover-like herb native to the Mediterranean region, southern Europe, and western Asia. Fenugreek is an excellent source of protein and amino acids, which help repair the hair shaft damage due to dehydration, heat styling, chemicals, sun damage, or color treatments. Fenugreek boosts the cuticle integration in your hair shaft, thus promoting thicker hair growth. 
 
 

Ginger - is a flowering plant that originated in Southeast Asia. Ginger is among the healthiest spices on the planet and belongs to the Zingiberaceae family. Ginger helps improve scalp circulation while also stimulating each hair follicle, which in turn promotes natural hair growth. The many vitamins, minerals, and fatty acids in ginger also strengthen your hair strands to combat hair loss, and ginger contributes to restoring moisture loss. 

 

Hibiscus - Hibiscus sabdariffa is an annual herb with a woody lower stem and long narrow leaves. Hibiscus is native to India, Indonesia, Malaysia, and West Africa. Its flowers are pale yellow with deep red or purple centers. On the hair, Hibiscus is known to soothe the scalp and soften hair follicles. 

  

Reetha - also known as soapnuts, soapberries, or washing nuts, have been used to make natural hair care products since immemorial. Reetha is a natural conditioner known to soothe the scalp and make the hair shiny. Reetha is rich in Vitamins A and D, which foster hair growth. 

  

Shikakai - also known as Shika in Tamil, Seekaaya in Telugu, and Soap pod in English, is a powerful Ayurvedic plant used for generations as a cleanser for healthy, long hair, dandruff management, and relief of skin diseases. Shikakai is a shrub-like tree native to Central India. Shikakai is antifungal and antimicrobial. It has excellent moisturizing, conditioning, and hydrating properties that help to eliminate hair dryness and leave it soft, shiny, and frizz-free. 
 

Turmeric - a plant in the ginger family, is native to Southeast Asia. Turmeric ensures a healthy scalp through its anti-inflammatory and anti-microbial properties. The spice is gentle and refreshing and makes for a great exfoliator cleanser. Tumeric soothes the scalp and removes the build-up that blocks your follicles. 

 

Almond Oil - we use almond oil for its conditioning effect on the skin and hair. Almond oil is moisturizing and packed with Vitamin E. When applied to hair, it adds shine and softens the entire hair shaft. 

 

Argan Oil - we use argan oil to nourish, smooth, and condition dry, coarse, and curly hair. Argan oil is a plant oil produced from the kernels of the argan tree. It contains Vitamin E, phenols, carotenes, squalene, and fatty acids.

  

Unrefined Avocado oil - is cold-pressed and retains all the nutrients, taste, smell, and color that make it super for you. Avocado oil is high in monounsaturated fats, Vitamins E, B6, and D, making it an extremely rich treatment for dry, brittle hair. These three vital nutrients moisturize the hair, reduce dandruff, promote growth, protect the hair from damage, and impart shine. 

 

Bergamot Oil - is used in hair care to add shine as it encourages the hair's outer layer, called the cuticle, to lie flat and reflect more light. In skin care, it is cleansing, and as a fragrant ingredient, bergamot oil has a fresh, sweet, fruity scent and is known as ''sunshine in a bottle''. 
Bergamot oil comes from a citrus fruit the size of an orange but is more similar in color to a lemon. 

 

Castor Oil - is derived from the seed of the Ricinus communis plant. The oil is produced by cold-pressing the seeds and through a clarification process with heat before use. It's a colorless, odorless, and tasteless pale yellow liquid. Castor oil has many benefits, including strengthening strands, promoting hair growth, and nourishing a dry scalp. 

 

Coconut Oil - softens and protects hair and skin. It is soothing and has a touch of a tropical scent. When applied topically, it can soothe dry skin. The coconut palm is native to the warm climates of Polynesia, Malaysia, and southern Asia. Its nuts are the largest seeds known to the world and can take up to a year to fully mature. Coconut oil (or coconut butter, as it is also known) is extracted from the inner flesh of the coconut. 

 

Curry Leaf Oil - is extracted from the leaf of the Curry Tree by a steam distillation process. The Curry Tree belongs to a family of Rutaceae, native to India. The Curry Leaves oil has high beta-carotene and protein, which is very useful in preventing the thinning of hair and improving the health of the scalp. 

 

Eucalyptus Globulus Oil - is from the Eucalyptus Tree (Eucalyptus globulus), which is native to Australia. The oil is distilled from the fresh leaves and branch tops of the tree. Eucalyptus oil has antibacterial and antifungal properties making it a useful oil in many products. It relieves dry and itchy scalps due to dandruff or dermatitis and even prevents head lice. 

 

Frankincense Oil - is also called olibanum. Frankincense is obtained by means of steam distillation from the resin of the Boswellia Carteri tree and is pale yellow and resinous with a fresh, fruity, and woody aroma. 

 

Jojoba Oil - (pronounced: ho-ho-ba) is a unique liquid wax obtained from the seeds of the jojoba shrub. Due to jojoba oil's affinity with our sebum, it's more readily absorbed and tolerated by the top layer of our skin. Jojoba Oil also works to condition and coats the hair shaft, making it both shiny and manageable. 

 

Lavender Oil - is used to calm the mind, aid restful sleep, and promote relaxation. We use lavender oil in our products to give them a sweet and relaxing scent and a soothing effect on the skin. Lavender is a perennial, shrub-like plant that's part of the mint family; this oil is one of the most versatile essential oils in the world and has been used in perfumery and aromatherapy for centuries. The oil is obtained from the woody stems and purple flowers of the plant via steam distillation. 

 

Lemon Oil - is astringent, cleansing, and brightening for the skin. It is also energizing and can help you to focus. Citrus Limonum is a thorny, evergreen tree with irregular branches bearing shiny oval leaves. It produces white, pink-tinged, strongly perfumed flowers, which turn into berries - the lemon fruit. Lemon oil is extracted from the rind by cold expression. 

 

Lemongrass Oil - is toning and has cleansing and deodorizing properties when applied to the skin and has been used in aromatherapy for its uplifting and anti-depressant qualities. Lemongrass originated in India and has been used for centuries and is obtained through steam distillation, resulting in dark yellow oil with a sweet lemon-like aroma. 

  

Natural Fragrance Oil - is a combination of naturally derived essential oils, floral extract, and plant-based aroma-producing ingredients.

 

Neem Oil - also known as margosa oil, is a vegetable oil pressed from the fruits and seeds of the neem, a tree indigenous to the Indian subcontinent. Neem oil is high in fatty acids, such as linoleic, oleic, and palmitic acids, to help lock in moisture to the hair. 

 

Onion Oil - Rich in Sulfur and Potassium, Onion Oil has been known to strengthen split ends and prevent breakage and firm hair strands. Onion oil helps maintain the pH of the scalp and hair roots which facilitates the growth of new hair follicles. 

 

Peppermint Oil - is a pale liquid, and its main constituents are menthol and menthone. It has a strong, refreshing, minty aroma with underlying herbal notes. Peppermint oil has a cooling and analgesic sensation on the skin. The oil is extracted by steam distillation from the leaves and flowers. We use it to make the scalp feel cool, refreshed, and invigorated.

 

Safflower Oil - is extracted from the seeds of the safflower. Botanically related to lettuce, sunflowers, and daisies, safflowers were initially cultivated for flowers and later for their oil-rich seeds. Safflower oil softens and moisturizes the skin. Safflower oil is easily absorbed and leaves a velvety smooth finish. 

 

Sesame Oil - is incredibly nourishing when used topically. Sesame oil is rich in monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fatty acids, providing light and easily-absorbed moisture to the skin and hair. Sesame oil is amber in color and has a mild nutty aroma. It's pressed from the oil-rich seeds of the sesame plant, which can grow up to 3.5 feet tall. 

 

Tea Tree Oil - nourishes hair follicles and roots, prevents excess oil production, improves blood flow, and allows nutrients to reach hair follicles to grow healthy hair. Just a few drops of tea tree oil can help regulate oil production by the sebaceous glands, improving hair health and reducing the look of greasy roots. Tea tree oil is steam-distilled from the foliage of the tea tree, a small tree belonging to the myrtle family. 

 

Vitamin E Oil - is an excellent antioxidant. It safely interacts with and destroys free radicals, working to keep skin healthy. Vitamin E is a term used to describe a group of antioxidant compounds, one of which is alpha-tocopherol, the form of vitamin E most easily absorbed by the body. 

 

African Balck Soap - or black soap, is made from locally harvested plants originating in West Africa such as plantain, coca pods and palm tree leaves. They are sun-dried and roasted which gives the soap its rich dark color. Water and oils like shea butter and coconut oil are also added, and the soap is left to cure. African Black Soap has been used for centuries to nourish skin and hair. Packed with vitamins A, E, and iron, this peculiar soap cleanses the skin, improves skin tone, exfoliates, reduces skin irritations, fades skin discoloration, and helps prevent premature aging.

 

Mango Butter - contains Vitamins A, B, and C, several E Vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, calcium, and potassium. Softer than cocoa butter, this one helps to moisturize, lubricate and soothe the scalp and hair in need of a little extra TLC. Mango is a large evergreen tree. The young trees produce a dense canopy of red-brown leaves; when the trees mature, the leaves become dark green. They bear small, fragrant flowers and succulent fruit. 

 

Shea Butter - is extremely nourishing but also gentle and easily absorbed. It contains oleic acid, a saturated fatty acid that is highly compatible with the sebum naturally produced by our skin. This means it's readily absorbed and is said to help the absorption of other active ingredients. 
Shea butter is an ivory-colored fat that's extracted from the nut of the Karite tree. 

 

*BTMS 50 - is a cationic (positively charged) emulsifying wax. Because it’s cationic, it is also conditioning; it adsorbs (creates an excellent coating) on skin and hair. It gives our products the most luxurious, wonderful skin feel and leaves hair easy to comb through and silky. It also functions as a complete emulsifying wax. 
 

*Cetyl alcohol - is a waxy-like solid added to lotions and creams to help stabilize and bind their ingredients together to prevent them from separating into an oil or liquid. Not only is it considered safe and non-toxic for use on the skin and hair, but it's also not drying or irritating like other types of alcohol. 
 

 *Guar Gum - is anti-static, smoothing properties on hair: it leaves manes soft and shiny. Guar gum is an off-white powder that also helps to thicken products to give them a creamy, malleable texture. It is derived from the guar plant by grinding the tissue found inside its seeds. 

 

*Glycerin - as a humectant, glycerin draws moisture from the air into your skin to keep it hydrated and soft. We use glycerin in our products because it carries effective ingredients. It's also very mild and does not cause irritation as it can replace water content and has natural preservative properties. Glycerin is a clear, viscous, water-soluble liquid that occurs widely in nature. 

 

*Hydrolyzed Oat Protein - is a liquid cosmetic ingredient made from oat protein that has been modified to be water-soluble. It boosts the moisturizing & hydrating properties of our formulations while improving skin feel. 

 

*Optiphen Natural Preservative - is a unique liquid preservative formulation that consists of phenoxyethanol and an emollient base. The combination of these ingredients provides optimized protection against microbial growth from bacteria and yeast while giving the finished product an exceptional feel. 

 

*Propylene Glycol - is a  safe, vegetable-based synthetic. A highly effective humectant, propylene glycol helps the skin and hair absorb and retain moisture. It also absorbs excess water in a formula, reducing bacteria growth to help your products last longer. In haircare products, it softens the hair and makes it easy to comb through. This clear, syrupy liquid has no color, odor, or taste and is derived from vegetable oils like rapeseed or coconut. It's a safe synthetic liquid completely soluble in water, so it helps skin retain moisture. 

 

 *Sorbitol - is a sugar alcohol that occurs naturally in many berries and fruits. We use sorbitol and vegetarian glycerin as a solubilizer in our soap base.

  

*Sodium Cocoate - is a surfactant meant to help cleanse the skin, and it’s a prevalent ingredient in making soap. Sodium cocoate involves combining the fatty acids found in coconut oil with sodium hydroxide, a process that creates the ingredient sodium cocoate. 

 

 *Sorbitan Oleate - is a surfactant and emulsifier made from oleic acid (from olive oil). It is biodegradable, non-toxic, and non-irritant. 

 

*Sodium Palmate - is a type of sodium salt that is derived naturally from the fatty acids found in palm oil. We use this ingredient in our bar soaps as a surfactant to cleanse the hair and skin gently. 

 
*Steric acid - is a fatty acid that occurs naturally in animal and plant fats. They are used as an emulsifier, emollient, and lubricant that can soften skin and help to keep products from separating. 

 

*Sugarcane Alcohol - is an alcohol made from the sugar cane plant. The alcohol is produced by fermenting and distilling the juice of the sugar cane. It's an environmentally friendly option to other alcohols with no pollutants or toxins. We use this in our Hair Perfumes.

 

*Vitamin B5 - also called pantothenic acid, is a powerful humectant that uses water in the surrounding environment by drawing moisture and pumping it into your hair.
